FAQ
Questions priests ask
Who is behind it?
Orthodox Parish Life is built and run by Jared Hultink, through Rapid App Development, LLC.
Where does our parish’s data live?
Supabase hosts the database, sign-in and files; the website is hosted by Vercel. Data may be processed in the United States. Messages are encrypted in transit and on disk, but not end to end, so they are readable on our servers.
Who can see members’ information?
Members of your parish see each other’s names and profile photos. The parish’s admins can also see members’ email addresses.
Do you sell data or show ads?
No. We don’t sell personal information, and the app shows no ads.
What happens after the beta?
Pricing after the beta is not set. No parish is charged without agreeing to it first, and every parish admin hears from us well before anything changes. Parishes that test it with us during the beta keep it free.
What does it cost?
Nothing during the open beta.
Do our parishioners need anything besides the app?
A phone with the app, and an account. The admin site is only for the people who run the parish.
Can we run the parish from a phone?
Partly. Approving members, editing events and running groups work in the app. Parish details, calendars and the home page are set on the admin site.
Is our parish listed publicly?
Signed-in users can find your parish in the app’s search, by name, city or priest. Nothing about it can be read by someone who is not signed in. If your parish should not appear in search, ask us to leave it out.
Which jurisdictions and calendars?
Any Orthodox jurisdiction, on the old or the new calendar. The daily readings follow Greek practice for GOA and Antiochian parishes, and Slavic practice for the rest.
How do we leave?
Contact us and we will take your parish off the app. Members can delete their own accounts at any time, in the app or on the admin site.
